Light These Sticks

"God, I pray, light these idle sticks of my life and may I burn up for Thee. Consume my life, my God, for it is Thine. I seek not a long life but a full one like Yours, Lord Jesus."

Where Will It Come From?

Over the last few weeks we the people have been asked to foot a lot of bills.

- a $1,ooo,ooo,ooo,ooo government spending bill on top of an already trillion dollar federal budget

- $2,000,000,000,000 to bail out banks

- billions and billions to bail out US automakers

- read this morning in the nyt that Obama is asking for $75 billion to stop foreclosures

Where will it stop?

Where will all the $$$ come from?

Has anyone remembered that all the baby boomers will be crying for their Social Secuirty checks soon?

What about the wars were engaged in?

Where will it stop?

What really makes me think is HOW will it stop?

Odds & Ends

Check out the Coach Kay Yow video at wral.com

It is cold today.

Why do we so often focus on the circumstances and not on Christ?

"Rejoice in the Lord, always. And again I say rejoice." - Philippians 4:4

It doesn't seem that Barack Obama had to wait too long to think "Gee, why did I want this job?"

"Beware
Of entrance to a quarrel, but being in,
Bear't that th'opposed may beware of the.
Give every man thine ear but few thy voice.
Take each man's censure, but reserve thy judgement.
Costly thy habit as thy purse can buy,
But not expressed in fancy; rich not gaudy;
For the apparel oft proclaims the man,
And they in France of the best rank and station
Are of all most select and generous chief in that.
Neither a borrower nor a lender be,
For loan oft loses both itself and friend,
And borrowing dulls the edge of husbandry.
This above all: to thine own self be true.
And it must follow, as the night the day,
Thou canst not then be false to any man."
---- Polonius, Hamlet
by Wm. Shakespeare
